Page Monitoring

Know when a page you care about changes, before Google does

Watch the pages that earn your traffic and revenue – pricing, product, landing and key blog pages – and get told when their title, canonical, noindex, headings, structured data, content or your own elements change. Every check records the HTML your server sent and the page after JavaScript runs, and every change comes with a before and after in plain words.

  • Title, canonical, noindex, headings and structured data on every check
  • The HTML your server sent and the page after JavaScript, compared
  • Your own elements by CSS selector: prices, stock, calls to action
  • Clicks and impressions from Search Console next to every change

// the problem

Someone changed the canonical on your best page. Google noticed first.

Pages change all the time: a CMS update, a plugin, a developer fixing something else, a script that runs after the page loads. Most changes are harmless. The few that are not – a noindex, a new canonical, a missing title – cost you traffic for weeks before anyone looks.

A deploy adds noindex to a page that earns most of your clicks

A plugin update rewrites canonicals or titles across a whole section

JavaScript changes the page after load, so the source looks fine

Structured data breaks and rich results quietly disappear

A price, stock label or call to action changes without anyone signing off

After a site move, old URLs stop redirecting where they should

// what you can monitor

Every change, in one plain sentence

The Changes feed lists what changed on your watched pages, newest first. Risky changes are flagged Needs attention, and any row opens the before and after.

01

Source and After JavaScript

Every check records the HTML your server sent and the page after JavaScript runs in Chrome, at a phone's screen size. Changes made by scripts after the page loads are caught, not missed.

02

17 Kinds of Change

Errors, redirects, noindex and robots directives, robots.txt blocking Googlebot, canonical tag and header, title, meta description, H1 and other headings, language and hreflang, main content, structured data, links and images, tag scripts, rendering problems, response headers and speed, and your own elements.

03

Your Own Elements

Name any element with a CSS selector and test it on the live page before saving. Track a price, a stock label or a call to action, up to 10 elements per page on paid plans.

04

Plain-Sentence Changes

Each change reads as one sentence, like "Now returns 404 (was 200)" or "Canonical now points to /new-page". Text shows before and after with the changed words marked.

05

Needs Attention, Not Noise

Risky changes are flagged Needs attention. Mark them as seen, snooze them, or mark them normal. A field that changes on most checks is labeled "Changes often" and never flagged, and the same edit on many pages folds into one row.

06

Search Impact

With Google Search Console connected, each page shows clicks and impressions since your changes, with markers on the chart, plus whether Google has it indexed and which canonical it chose.

07

Compare Any Two Checks

Open any check, or pick two, and compare them as changes, visible text, HTML source or the page after JavaScript. Change history is kept 12 months on paid plans and 14 days on Free.

08

Site Move Checks

Set a migration check on a page: it should redirect to a new address, to another page of the site, or stay where it is. A CSV with a new-URL column sets up a whole site move at once.

09

Add Pages Your Way

Paste URLs, upload a CSV of up to 500 pages, or let "Keep my top pages watched" follow your pages with the most Google clicks every week. Tables across the app have a one-click Watch in Page Monitoring button.

// before and after

See exactly what changed, in the source and after JavaScript

Every check stores two versions of the page: the HTML as your server sent it, and the page after JavaScript runs in Chrome. Compare any two checks as a list of changes, as visible text, or as HTML source, so a script that quietly adds a noindex or rewrites a canonical has nowhere to hide.

  • Changes, Text, HTML source and After JavaScript views
  • Compare any two checks, not just the last two
  • Changed words marked, worse values tinted

Watch the parts of a page only you know matter

Name any element with a CSS selector – a price, a stock label, a call to action, a shipping note – and test it against the live page before you save it. Element changes are listed first, and an alert rule can fire when one changes, disappears or contains a given text.

  • Up to 10 custom elements per page on paid plans
  • Test a selector on the live page before saving
  • Alert when an element changes, disappears or contains a text

See what a change did to your clicks

Connect Google Search Console and each watched page shows its clicks and impressions with every change marked on the chart, plus how Google sees the page today: whether it is indexed, which canonical Google chose, and when Googlebot last visited.

  • Clicks and impressions with change markers
  • A note when clicks fall after a change
  • Indexed status, canonical and last Googlebot visit

Hear about the changes that can hurt you

Create alert rules for the changes you care about, from a page that stops loading or gains a noindex to a canonical, title or structured data change. Alerts arrive in the app and by email, and a daily or weekly change digest sums up the rest.

  • Alert rules for each kind of change, on all or chosen pages
  • In-app and email notifications
  • Daily or weekly change digest

From a list of pages to a feed of changes

1Step 01

Verify your domain

Page Monitoring only runs on a site you have verified as yours, through Google Search Console, Cloudflare, a DNS record, or a meta tag or file.

2Step 02

Choose the pages

Paste URLs, upload a CSV, turn on "Keep my top pages watched", or click Watch in Page Monitoring from RUM, Search Console, Indexing, Server Log or Site Health tables.

3Step 03

Set how often

Pages are checked every 24 hours on Free and Starter, and as often as every 12 or 4 hours on Lite and above. "Check now" runs a check on demand.

4Step 04

Review changes and get alerted

Every check is compared with the last one, field by field. Changes land in the feed, risky ones are flagged, and your alert rules notify you in the app and by email.

// in the real world

Real scenarios, real fixes

E-commerce sites
Challenge

"A theme update dropped the product structured data and changed prices on the storefront. We found out from a sales report."

Solution

Structured data changes are tracked on every check, and custom elements watch the price and stock label on each product page, with an alert when either changes.

SEO agencies
Challenge

"A client's developer changed titles and canonicals across the blog. We noticed when rankings slipped a month later."

Solution

"Keep my top pages watched" follows each client's pages with the most Google clicks, and the same edit across many pages shows as one row the day it happens.

Site migrations
Challenge

"After a move to a new URL structure, some old pages stopped redirecting and nobody could say which."

Solution

Upload the old and new URLs as a CSV and each page gets a migration check, so a redirect that breaks or points to the wrong place is flagged on the next check.
