AI Agent Readiness Checker
AI agents look for a short list of files before they can find your site, read it or act on it. Enter your domain and this free AI agent readiness checker scores you 0-100 in seconds, shows you what is missing, and hands you a ready-to-paste prompt for each fix.
This checked one URL, once.
VitalSentinel Robots.txt Monitoring keeps watching this around the clock, so you never have to run the check again. You hear about it the moment something changes.
Free plan, no credit cardWhat it checks
- Runs twenty checks: five settled standards including robots.txt, sitemaps and Link headers, four emerging ones, and eleven drafts such as MCP server cards, Agent Skills and WebMCP
- Asks your home page for a Markdown version and tells you whether Markdown comes back or the same HTML as before
- Judges every result on what actually came back, not on the status code, so a page that answers 200 with nothing in it earns no credit
- Gives you a ready-to-paste prompt to implement each check that did not pass
What it does not
- The Markdown check, Link headers and WebMCP are judged on your home page alone, so a site that serves them only on article or API pages still reads as missing
- It looks in the conventional places only. A catalog or an API description published at some other path is not found
- It reads the files, it does not use them. A valid MCP server card is not proof the server behind it answers
- The WebMCP check reads the HTML your server sends, so tools registered by JavaScript in the browser are invisible to it
Questions
- My score is low. Is my site broken?
- Almost certainly not. Eleven of the twenty checks are drafts published in the last year or two, and hardly anyone has adopted them yet. The score is also relative: the four agentic commerce checks are dropped from the total when a site publishes none of those documents, and any check that did not complete is dropped too, so two sites' scores are not directly comparable. Start with discoverability, content and bot access control, because those help search engines too.
- What is the difference between blocking AI crawlers and Content Signals?
- A Disallow rule says a file may not be fetched at all. A Content Signal says what may be done with content that was fetched: search, answering a question, or training. Many publishers want search yes and training no.
- Does serving Markdown mean maintaining two versions of every page?
- No. The same page just notices that the visitor asked for Markdown and serves its existing content in that form instead of HTML. Send a Vary: Accept header with it so a shared cache does not hand the Markdown version to a browser.
- Does any of this affect Google rankings?
- Two of the twenty do, because search engines read the same two files: whether robots.txt is there and parses, and whether it declares a sitemap that returns valid XML. The rest – Link headers, Markdown, MCP server cards, agent cards, Agent Skills, x402 – are invisible to Google and change nothing about how you rank. Fix those two for search, and treat the others as work you do when you want agents to be able to use your product. This check does not test whether your own rules block Googlebot by accident; the robots.txt tester does that.
